Van Dijk: Playing for Liverpool naturally has standards and expectations, and we must rebound strongly against Crystal Palace

Defender Van Dijk said that Liverpool knows that it must regain its winning state as soon as possible. The Reds will be hoping to respond when they face Crystal Palace at Anfield. They suffered another disappointing defeat in the Premier League last Saturday, losing to Brentford.
In a column in the match day program, Van Dijk expressed his hope that the team will turn around the situation starting tonight: "The message I want to convey before this game is simple, no matter what happens, we must stick together, we know this is a difficult moment. We know Results and performances don't live up to our expectations and that leads to pressure, scrutiny and criticism from the outside. "We accept that when you play for a club like Liverpool there are certain standards and expectations so when you don't live up to those standards. You have to face what comes next. Then you have to show the right reaction, work hard and find a way to bounce back."
"It was a very disappointing game in the Champions League. After our good performance at Frankfurt we were hoping to build on that with a good result at Brentford. Unfortunately we couldn't do that and the good thing about top-level football is that there's always another game coming soon and another opportunity to correct mistakes. "There is no time for self-pity when you represent this football club."
"Our response has to start now. I have said many times before that it all starts with hard work, humility and unity, and we have to show that in good times and in bad times." If we can do that, I believe we are strong enough to come out of this difficult period. Our next three games are at home and we have to take advantage of that. Anfield needs to be a stadium that no team wants to come to and for that we need everyone, the players, the staff. "We know Crystal Palace are a good team and they will make things difficult for us, just like they have in recent games and we have to be ready for them. We bring back a lot of great memories and we hope to go far this season."
"Most importantly, we want to put Saturday's disappointment behind us and get back on the winning track and give everyone a reason to cheer together."
