Reporter: Forest is negotiating with Gibbs White on contract renewal

According to The Athletic reporter David Ornstein, Nottingham Forest is negotiating with Gibbs White on the contract renewal.

The Athletic reported on July 10 that White is about to undergo a physical examination from Tottenham. The Athletic then followed up the report and pointed out that Forest is considering reporting Tottenham because they believe that Tottenham is signing White in an illegal manner. Anonymous sources said Forest was concerned about how Tottenham learned of confidential details in the contract, including a £60 million termination clause.

White received additional holidays due to family reasons, then flew to Portugal to join the forest training camp and played in a pre-season friendly match with Ligue 1 team Monaco on July 19, and the two sides finally drew 0-0.

The midfielder moved from Wolves to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022, and his contract is currently expiring for two years. According to The Athletic, White is a popular candidate on the list of signings for several top clubs. Manchester City showed a strong interest in him as they entered this summer's transfer window, but eventually chose to sign Sherkey and Reindez.

In the 2024-25 season, White contributed outstanding performance to Nottingham Forest, helping the team achieve a good record of seventh place in the Premier League, and personally contributed 7 goals and 10 assists. Since joining, he has made 118 appearances for the club, scored 18 goals and sent 28 assists.

In addition, White made his debut for England in September this year and has played four games for the Three Lions.
